England and Germany have had a fierce rivalry on and off the pitch for as long as many can remember and it looks as though they could be set to go up against one another once again as they prepare to battle for a talented youngster.
Indeed, with the way the world is today, many of the population have dual nationalities and in regards to playing football, that could mean they have a choice of who they wish to represent provided they are good to enough to haev that decision to make.
Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala is certainly one player who will have a decision on his hands when it comes down to who he will represent in international football, with Germany keen for the English teen to commit himself to them.
The 17-year-old might already be a part of the England Under-21 set-up, however he is yet to make an appearance at the senior level and the German FA are keen to get in there before it is too late.
Speaking to Sport1 (via Transfermarkt), NT director Oliver Bierhoff revealed that the youngster was an exciting prospect that they are watching closely: “Jamal Musiala is a very interesting player that we are watching because of his DFB past and his current performances.”
Indeed, placing a bet on who he could end up representing in the future could be an enjoyable experience that bettors can look to make the most of with UK non Gamestop online bookmakers.
The teenager is a former Chelsea youth player who decided to head to Germany to further enhance his career prospects in 2019 and has since thrived at Bayern Munich. He has played just under 500 minutes for Hans-Deiter Flick’s side so far this season, and has a number of goals to his name already, thus earning him some rather rave reviews.
Bierhoff added that “he’s currently chosen to play for England U-21s, which we respect, of course. However, we’ll continue to keep an eye on him and keep discussing whether his stance can change.”
It has also been suggested that Germany U-21 coach Stefan Kuntz has been trying to convince Musiala to switch allegiances, but with little success so far. Bierhoff also seems to imply that it is simply down to whether the player identifies with them more than England, as well.
“In addition to the sporting aspects, it’s essential to us that our national team players acknowledge and identify with our country, our teams, and our values,” Biefhoff remarked.
Musiala would certainly have a decision on his hands to make, as there is no guarantee that he will enjoy the success he will hope for with either nation. England have the likes of Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, and Jack Grealish in the squad, whilst he would be competing with his own Bayern teammates and Julian Draxler in the Germany National Team. At 17, he has plenty of time on his side to make a choice about his international career, however on the flip side, with the amount of quality that each country is able to produce, he might not have as much time as he would think!
